Spring Is Here

With this kind of a start to spring, it’s sometimes hard to imagine the warmth of summer ever getting here…but trust us, it’s on its way!  And if you have any doubts may we suggest you stop by and take a look in our 40,000 square foot greenhouse.  We are literally bursting with color in here!  The hanging baskets are bouncing merrily on their over head conveyor and we have added some new theme baskets that are simply breathtaking along with planting many of our tradition baskets in new cedar pots this year!

Speaking of new Baskets…

We've got a basket that has gone to the dog... a very special dog that is!

One of the special baskets that have been created this year will not only brighten your homes patio or garden; it will help out our community.  We are extremely proud to announce our “Ranger” basket.   The Marysville Police K9 Unit is raising funds for its newest addition to the K9 program, “Ranger”.  Ranger is a 14 month old German Shepherd purchased through Von Grunheide Shepherds in Snohomish.
Ranger is assigned to patrol with his partner Officer Oates and has been specifically trained for the apprehensioRangern of criminal suspects, applicable searches, and performing the special skills of a police canine.
Training for these amazing animals is expensive, but the payoff to the community is immense.  These brave, faithful, police companions serve us all
in an unquestioning capacity that touched all of us here at The Plant Farm at Smokey Point so we decided to see if you couldn’t help out, after all, we care about this community that has been so kind to us!
So, a very special hanging basket has been created and we have appropriately named it our “Ranger” basket.  The cost of this striking filled cedar basket is $39.99.  The Plant Farm at Smokey Point will donate $10 for every basket sold.  The baskets will have Red Geranium, Babylon White Verbena, Lemon Symphony Daisies, Royal Velvet Supertunias and Giant Snowflake Bacopa.  This money will go directly to assist in the purchase of “Ranger”, Marysville’s newest addition to the K9 Force.
Because there has been such an interest in these baskets, we will be starting a call list for those who are interested in purchasing this basket.  A week prior to the baskets release from our growing houses, we will call you to let you know the day the baskets will come over to the retail greenhouse so you can come in and get the pick of the litter so to speak!   Baskets should be ready around early to mid-May.   Let’s show “Ranger” we are all willing to put it on the line for him!  To get your name onto the call back list just call The Plant Farm at Smokey Point at 360-652-3351

Kids Love Dirt

So why not turn that love of dirt into something special!

In March we have Arbor Day and of course that is quickly followed by spring when all that energy and life seems to literally spring out of the ground.  So why not get the kids to help you plant a tree or special plant in your yard that they can take care of and watch grow.  And, if a tree won’t fit, then how about their own little container garden.  Wait a minute, maybe if they plant a container of veggies they might even eat them!

It could happen!

The Seeds are Here!
And that's not all...

we’ve just received a selection of veggie plants including tomatoes!  Walla Walls onions await planting along with a nice variety of potatoes, and asparagus!  The Camellias have been particularly adept at showing off lately along with amazing blooms from our Magnolia trees.  There is so much happening here at The Plant Farm at Smokey Point you just have to come in and look around!
